Born in Tottori. Worked at Hossho-ji Kiln. Studied under Matsuura Kujiro and Hara Choshiro. Worked at a number of kilns including Izumo and Ishishu, and was given the Ochiai Kiln in 1903. He named it the Hossho-ji Hanaya Kiln. Currently, the fourth generation is Ando Masumi.
