Upon graduation from Nagasaki University, he studied under Nakamura Kiyomi. Later, he studied under his father, Ryuzan. Selected for the Nitten exhibition for the first time in 1984. In the following year, he was awarded the Grand Prize at the Kyushu Contemporary Arts and Crafts Exhibition and other prizes. Like his father, he did not take a pupil but mainly produced celadon and tenmoku works.
