Born as the eldest son of Gorosuke the 1st, he learned pottery techniques from his father and inherited the family name.
He produced teacups and tableware, and developed a relationship with cultural figures of the time, such as Rengetsu Otagaki and Tessai Tomioka, with whom he produced a number of collaboration paintings.
