The eldest son of Miura Kohei, head of a family working with Mumyoi-ware in Sado, Niigata prefecture. Graduated from the sculpture department of Tokyo University of the Arts in 1955. Studied under Kato Hajime. Worked as a lecturer for the ceramics course at the same university before retiring in 1971 and devoting himself full-time to ceramics. Became an assistant professor in the ceramics course of the same department in 1986. Recipient of the Contemporary Japanese Ceramics Exhibition Asahi Newspaper Award. Judge for the Excellence Award at the New Japanese Traditional Crafts Exhibition. Recipient of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology Award. Works purchased by the Agency for Cultural Affairs.

Member and director of the Japan Kogei Association. Recipient of many honors including the Japan Ceramics Society Award. Invited to the Japanese Ceramics Exhibition (sponsored by the Mainichi Newspaper), Contemporary Tea Ceramics 100 Bowls (sponsored by the Yomiuri Newspaper) and Japanese Ceramics 400th Anniversary Exhibition (sponsored by the Asahi Newspaper). Works purchased by the Victorial Royal Museum, National Museum of Modern Art (Tokyo) and others. Held solo exhibitions at Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi, Osaka Takashimaya, Nagoya Matsuzakaya, Kioicho Kantori, Ginza Wako, others. Primarily focused on celadon, blue dyeing, and color painting.
