Sakurajima pottery 桜島焼

Sakurajima ware is pottery made in Sakurajima, Kagoshima City, Kagoshima Prefecture. Originally, the Ogaku pottery kiln was established to produce White Satsuma ware. However, around 1985, when Sakurajima had a lot of volcanic activities, the current head, Hashino Midori, mixed the volcanic ashes of Sakurajima into the clay.
