He lived in Hara-mura, Sakata-gun as one of the painters of Koto ware.
He was one of the founders of Kabunakama with other painters such as Kenyu, Sekisui, and Jinensai in 1856 with permission from the Hikone Domain. He painted and sold his works from home, using the domain kiln as base.
