Morita Gosei, the potter from Kanazawa, came to the lake side of Lake Towada in Aomori Prefecture around 1927 to study the porcelain clay of this area. The following year, he started a kiln and gave the name of Towadako ware to the teacups, censers, incense trays, incense burners, vases, and other earthenware he produced there.
He also produced earthenware bells for tourists.
