Miyao by Mikasa "Gensai" Demitasse Cup and Saucer
A small cup for a strong coffee. This is a demitasse, so about a third of a normal mug, and it comes with its saucer.
The blue band is the thing. It looks like mottled lapis, with tiny gold flecks scattered through it and a gilt flower cluster on each side. Wide gold rim, a lace-like gold border below the band, and a handle that's gilded all the way round. It reads as much heavier than it is. Pick it up and it's bone china, thin and light, with that faint glow when you hold it to a window.
Found at an antique shop in central Japan, near the Nagoya pottery belt. Single owner set, lightly used.

- Very good used condition. Light wear to the gilt on the handle where it was held. Faint gilt rubbing at the saucer rim edge. No chips, no cracks, no crazing, interior clean and unstained.

Recommendations
- Hand wash in warm water
- No abrasive sponge or scourer
- Dry immediately, then air fully before storing Trapped damp is what turns into mould in a tomobako.
- Not microwave safe
- Not oven safe
- Not for direct flame or a stovetop
- Gold or silver overglaze: never microwave Metallic decoration arcs in a microwave and the decoration is lost.
- Repaired with urushi lacquer and gold Hand wash only, no heat and no soaking. The repair is lacquer, not glaze.
- Carries an older repair: handle gently
- Unglazed and porous in places Rinse with water before first use so it takes in less of what you serve.
